But don't let these unassuming invertebrates fool you—their graceful trailing parts are covered in stinging cells used for hunting. When their tentacles touch tiny drifting prey, the stinging cells paralyze it and stick tight. The prey is moved to the mouth-arms and then to the mouth, where it's digested.

Le Havre is the largest city in Normandy, it is located 2 hours from Paris.
The city center was rebuilt by Auguste Perret after the Second World War and today it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is decorated with beautiful architecture and a huge variety of public artworks, just walking around the city will fill you with endless inspiration.
To enjoy the sights from a different perspective, you can climb up to the 17th floor of the town hall tower and enjoy a wonderful panoramic view. From here you can see the white curves of Niemeyer’s Volcan, Avenue Foch leading to the twin towers of the Porte Océane and of course the lantern tower of the Church of St Joseph, one of the masterpieces of 20th-century architecture.
A fantastic beach is found just 800 metres from the city centre, it comes alive from spring to autumn. It is a vibrant area thanks to the presence of huts and restaurants. You can practise sports from canoe to stand-up paddle, from kite surfing to BMX and skateboard, you can even play boules! It’s a great place to be, lounging in the deckchairs on the terraces, watching a cruise liner head off, marked by the three siren calls of the Port Watch.

With roughly one million inhabitants, Sendai (仙台) is by far the largest city in the Tohoku Region and one of the country's 15 largest cities. The modern city of Sendai was founded around 1600 by Date Masamune, one of feudal Japan's most powerful lords. Many of Sendai's tourist attractions are related to Masamune and his family.
Sendai was the closest major city to the epicenter of the earthquake of March 11, 2011. The tsunami devastated the city's coastal outskirts but did not cause major damage in the city center. Virtually all tourist spots reopened within a few months of the earthquake.
Less than an hour northeast of the city center lies the town of Matsushima, whose bay is dotted by pine clad islets and is known for one of Japan's three most scenic views.

Here we are in Plagne Centre, 1,970m above sea level. From this central location, there are three ski lifts that will take you wherever you want to go: Bécoin and Colorado chairlifts and the Funiplagne gondola.
There is also a large selection of retail areas and ski schools and it is the starting point for the Colorado toboggan run and the Buffalo Park fun slope…yee haw!
Nearby, the town of Aime la Plagne has a tradition of welcoming travellers. The first signs of human occupation date from the Middle Iron Age, between around 450 and 25 BC. It is about 20 kilometres from La Plagne’s high altitude villages.
A town of around 4500 inhabitants, Aime offers numerous shops, restaurants and services, where you can find all you need during your stay. It has a railway station served by TGV trains. There is a weekly market on Thursdays all year round in the town centre, with local artisans selling food, beer, honey and cheese, as well as one-off creations, decorative items, furniture and accessories.

When the river is navigable you can enjoy the beautiful landscape along the Elbe between Děčín and Hamburg every day. The crew of the vessel consists of Captain Jaroslav Batista, boatman Kuba and several other members who can share with you the interesting things from life on the ship. Erasmus Bridge is a combined cable stayed and bascule bridge, construction began in 1986 and was completed in 1996. It crosses the nieuwe maas in the centre of Rotterdam, connecting the north and south parts of this city, the second largest city in the Netherlands.
The bridge is 800 meters long and at its highest point, the bridge is 139 meters tall. Known as the 'erasmusbrug' in dutch, the bridge has also been lovingly nicknamed the swan (‘de zwaan’) by locals due to the distinctive shape of that one, asymmetrical pylon. It was designed by Ben van Berkel and opened in 1996 by Queen Beatrix.
The bridge has a beautiful lighting display in the evening, so be sure to check the camera then to admire the view.

These magnificent mountains tower over a valley bisected by the Snake River. This beautiful valley, overlooked on the western edge by an impressive skyline, is known as Jackson Hole. The Teton Range dominates the landscape of the park.
The range began rising about 10 million years ago. Numerous earthquakes, up to a magnitude 7.5, released tension along the Teton fault building the mountains one step at a time. Each large earthquake breaks the ground by about ten feet dropping the valley floor three to four times as much as the mountains rise. The Grand Teton at 13,770 feet, towers about 7,000 feet above the valley floor suggesting the offset across the fault is up to 30,000 feet. The lack of foothills is due to the presence of the Teton fault.
Erosion fills the valley and carves the range crest forming the jagged Teton skyline. The rugged terrain and lack of foothills allures outdoor enthusiasts of all types to visit this area. Climbers summit at least 12 peaks in the Teton Range over 12,000 feet high with varying degrees of difficulty.

The Panama Fruit Feeder Cam is located on the grounds of the Canopy Lodge in El Valle de Antón, Panama. This site is just over 2,000 ft above sea level in the low mountains of Cerro Gaital, with a mild springtime climate year-round. A small stream called Rio Guayabo runs past the feeders in the background, and the lush landscaping of the Canopy Lodge grounds grade into the forested slopes around them. The feeding table is around 40 feet from the main lodge, and is one of several feeders provisioned throughout the day so that guests to the lodge are greeted to spectacular views of many of the common birds found in this ecosystem.

The Canopy Lodge is a full service lodge specializing in nature tourism with a focus on birds. It is about 60 miles west of Panama City in the picturesque village of El Valle de Antón, right in the center of the gigantic crater of an extinct volcano. This is the largest inhabited crater in the Western Hemisphere and second only to the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. It is surrounded by the Cerro Gaital Natural Monument.

Spinner’s home is located in 30-feet of water, on the pilings of the pier. Our crowning jewel is packed daily with fishermen anxious to take a bow to a tarpon or pick a fight with a feisty Barracuda.

Lala Mountain Nature Protection Zone Spring is filled with a romantic atmosphere! It formed into the Daguan Mountain Natural Landscape Reservation in 1986.
At Lala Mountain, a pink and white sea of flowers decorates the emerald green mountain top, attracting many tourists for the cherry blossoms. Around February to March every year, the 300-meter-long Zhongbaling Cherry Blossom Trail is filled with colorful Taiwan Cherry, Japanese Flowering, Prunus campanulata, Fuji cherry, etc. The falling petals in the breeze paint a beautiful and dreamy scene.
The mountain has the biggest area of juniper forest in Taiwan. The site is home to 18 giant juniper trees. Among these giant woods, the number five giant juniper is the oldest of all. A Red-tailed Hawk pair has been nesting above Cornell University’s athletic fields since at least the 2012, making use of two different light towers for their nest sites. In 2012 and 2015, they used a tower near Fernow Hall, and in 2013, 2014, and 2016, they used the tower nearest Weill Hall. We installed cameras at both of these sites to get a better look at the intimate behavior of these well-known birds as they raise their young amid the bustle of a busy campus.
Red-tailed hawks are monogamous and may mate for life. They make stick nests high above the ground, in which the female lays one to five eggs each year. Both sexes incubate the eggs for four to five weeks, and feed the young from the time they hatch until they leave the nest about six weeks later.
Red-tailed Hawks, especially in the West, have highly variable plumage, including dark and rufous phases. They have long, broad wings and short, wide tails. Most have light breasts and dark streaks forming a mottled 'belly-band.' Most have dark brown heads. The underwings are mottled dark and light. All plumages of Red-tailed Hawks have a darkish band on the leading edges of the inner underwings, known as the 'patagial' markings. The upper side of the tail of most adult birds is deep rufous, although the Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk, a subspecies occasionally seen in Washington, has a light gray or banded tail. Light birds often have a faint white 'V' on their back-feathers that can be seen when they are perched. Juveniles lack the red tail.
The Dania Beach Municipal Marina was developed by The City of Dania Beach with the support of the Broward County Board of Commissioners. The Dania Beach Marina is located on the opposite side of Dania Beach Ocean Park and the Dania Beach Pier which is next to John U. Lloyd State Park. It is a few minutes from the Fort Lauderdale International Airport, just south of Port Everglades inlet.
Fishing Pier - The Dania Beach pier is open from 6 a.m.to Midnight 7 days a week.

It is known as "island volcanoes" because much of its surface is covered with remains of eruptions that took place during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
Lanzarote is an ideal island to enjoy all year round due to its subtropical climate and its lack of rainfall, being practically zero between May and October. The temperatures do not suffer large oscillations nor during the day nor during the year, rarely exceed 29 degrees in summer, or fall below 14 degrees in winter. Lanzarote is ideal for the enjoyment of its landscapes and nature, these being peculiar to most European tourists visiting the islands.

The Mississippi River Headwaters are the birthplace of the mighty Mississippi River! Here you can cross the river on foot and there are several beautiful walking trails all around Itasca State Park. There is a Visitor Center which has bathrooms, a gift shop and outdoor water fountains. You can also speak with the Park Ranger team and learn about the area. There is a huge variety of wildlife and plant life and it's a brilliant place to explore!

Born in 1989, Berlin is queen of her domain! Whether she's napping in her sandy pit or swimming laps in her cooled pool, Berlin chooses what she wants to do and when.
Nuniq - pronounced "new-nick" - was born at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in 2016 and arrived in Kansas City in 2020. You will frequently see him splashing around in the pool and tearing up some of his favorite toys.
Polar Bear Passage Facts:
• A 140,000 gallon pool chilled to 65 degrees for swimming and diving.
• A giant sand pit for digging (or napping) and a grassy yard for rolling around and playing with enrichment items.
• Air-conditioned bedrooms and den behind the scenes, complete with private swimming pool.
Keeping Busy:
Zookeepers plan daily activities for our bears. They use varied foods, smells, toys and sounds to change what they experience everyday. You may see our bears playing with balls, barrels, logs, or straw – they have a lot of options! You may also notice that Berlin sometimes paces, which is a habit she developed as a younger bear. The amount of time she paces changes from season to season, probably due to weather changes, hormones and natural instincts.
The Menu:
Berlin and Nuniq have a wide choice of food items. Herring, capelin, trout, polar bear kibble, lard and a selection of fruits and vegetables are all on the menu. Seasonally, polar bear weights fluctuate widely just as they would in the Arctic. In summer months, polar bears weigh much less because they are unable to hunt seals on the ice. In the winter, when hunting is possible, polar bears pack on the pounds.

Welcome to Seoul, Korea! The Olympic bridge was built between 1985 and 1990 to celebrate the Olympics. The bridge links the Gwangjin and Songpa districts. It is one of the busier roadways in downtown Seoul and at night it is beautifully illuminated with a rainbow of lights.
In the foreground you can see another bridge, which is part of the metropolitan subway system, opened in 1984. You can spot trains crossing the bridge at all hours of the day.

The Lakhta Center (Russian: Ла́хта це́нтр) is an 87-story skyscraper currently under construction in the outskirts of Lakhta in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Standing 462 metres (1,516 ft) tall, the Lakhta Center is the tallest building in Russia, the tallest building in Europe, and the 13th-tallest building in the world. The Lakhta Center is also the second-tallest structure in Russia and Europe, behind Ostankino Tower in Moscow.
Construction of Lakhta Center started on 30 October 2012; it was topped out on 29 January 2018. The Lakhta Center surpassed Vostok Tower of the Federation Towers in Moscow as the tallest building in Russia and Europe on 5 October 2017. The center is designed for large-scale mixed-use development: composing of public facilities and offices. The building was designed by Tony Kettle, author of the design, while at RMJM. The project was then continued by GORPROJECT (2011-2017) based on the RMJM Concept (2011) under the main contractor, Rönesans Holding. The Lakhta Center is intended to become the new headquarters of Russian energy company Gazprom.
Lakhta Center's environmentally sustainable technologies helped the complex be certified LEED Gold. The concrete pouring of the bottom slab of Lakhta Center's foundation was registered by Guinness World Records as the largest continuous concrete pour; 19,624 cubic meters of concrete were used, which is approximately 3,000 cubic meters more than in the previous similar record registered at Wilshire Grand Tower. The tower's curtain wall is also the world’s largest cold-bent facade by area.

Wilson, North Carolina’s story has captivated the imagination of the country. Farm machinery repairman, Vollis Simpson, began making gigantic kinetic sculptures at his family farm in Wilson County when he was nearing retirement age. He kept making his “whirligigs”–seven days a week–until about six months before he dies at the age of 94 in May of 2013. By that time he was famous. The story of Wilson’s campaign to use the renowned whirligigs to recharge its downtown has catapulted the community into the national spotlight. Grants from ArtPlace America, the Kresge Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts have helped the project come close to its goal of opening the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park and Museum.

The Virgin Islands National Park is St. John's largest and most popular attraction. It covers 3/5 of St. John's landmass and includes 12,624 land and marine acres that encompass pristine beaches, coral reefs, hiking trails, wild donkeys and 800 types of plants. There are also ancient artifacts from the pre-Columbian settlers and remnants of colonial sugar plantations. Twenty-two hiking trails cover more than 20 miles.
This live webcam overlooks a stretch of the Chūō Expressway near Moto-Hachiōjimachi, one of the key highway corridors linking Tokyo with the mountains of central Japan. From this view you can watch the steady flow of cars and trucks as they wind through the outskirts of Hachiōji, framed by greenery, overpasses, and the gently rising terrain that leads toward the Japanese Alps.
Traffic heading toward the top of the screen is bound for Yamanashi Prefecture, eventually reaching areas like Kōfu, Lake Kawaguchi, and the Mt. Fuji region. Vehicles travelling in the opposite direction are on their way back toward Tokyo, following one of the main commuter routes into the capital. It’s a great live snapshot of daily movement between the city and the countryside, sometimes calm, sometimes busy, always in motion.

A large freshwater lake in Shiga Prefecture, northeast of Kyoto. It’s known for its abundant fish population, migratory water birds and wetland regions. It's shoreline is home to resorts and beaches like Ōmi-Maiko.
Around the lake are historic sites including the 17th-century Hikone castle and the 8th-century Buddhist temple complex Enryaku-ji. Lake Biwa Museum has cultural and natural history exhibits.

Orvieto Cathedral is a large 14th-century Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and situated in the town of Orvieto in Umbria, central Italy.
Orvieto is a small city perched on a rock cliff. Duomo di Orvieto, dating from 1290, has a mosaic facade and houses a marble Pietà sculpture. The Pozzo di San Patrizio is a 16th-century well shaft with a double spiral staircase. An underground cave network attests to the city’s Etruscan roots. Artifacts from this era, like ceramics and bronze items, are on view at the National Archaeological Museum.

The Coral City Camera is an underwater camera streaming live from an urban reef in Miami, Florida. It is located along the shoreline at the east end of PortMiami in about 10’ (3m) of water. It was deployed by Coral Morphologic as a hybrid art-science research project produced with Bridge Initiative and Bas Fisher Invitational and initially funded through grants awarded by a Knight Arts Challenge grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Coral City Camera provides a fish-eye view into the urban marine ecosystem that has developed around the human-made shorelines of Miami. The project was launched with the idea that the incredible biodiversity living just below the waterline in Miami should be a point of civic pride that engages the public to protect what they know and love. The riprap boulder shoreline along PortMiami demonstrates that human infrastructure can offer imperiled species with refuge and functional habitat in unexpected urban locations as well as serve as conveniently accessible research sites.
While the abundance of fish and marine life makes for a real-life aquarium screensaver you can enjoy all day, the Coral City Camera also serves as a valuable scientific tool to monitor the health and wellbeing of this underwater life in a non-invasive fashion. Coral Morphologic is working with ACCRETE from NOAA to sample and record the site’s water parameters while using the camera as a research tool to monitor a coral nursery that houses fragments of brain corals (Pseudodiploria strigosa) from urban habitats in order to investigate their resilience. We are also working with Rescue-a-Reef from the University of Miami to use the site to identify the hardiest genotypes of staghorn (Acropora cervicornis) and elkhorn (Acropora palmata) corals that have been propagated in their offshore nursery in Biscayne National Park.

Check out the view from 3875 ft! With three lifts, eight trails and 22 inches of fresh snow, Stratton Mountain Resort officially opened for skiing on December 29, 1961. Stratton is home to 11 lifts, including New England's first high-speed six-passengers, 99 trails, glades, and terrain parks.
The seasons have brought thousands of inches of snow and too many memorable moments to count. Golf and tennis soon followed. Designed by noted golf course architect Geoffrey Cornish, the Stratton course opened for play in 1964. Mountain biking later joined the 27-hole championship golf course to complete Stratton's allure in any season. Ski, ride, hike, bike, golf, swim. The mountains are your playground.

Kusatsu Onsen is a hot spring resort located in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, North West of Tokyo. It is a popular tourist destination. There are 13 public baths at Kusatsu Onsen. The small bathhouses that are free for both town residents and tourists are managed by the townspeople themselves.
Shiga Prefecture is located in almost the exact center of Japan and also boasts the islands’ largest lake, Lake Biwa.
A large freshwater lake in Shiga Prefecture, northeast of Kyoto. It’s known for its abundant fish population, migratory water birds and wetland regions. It's shoreline is home to resorts and beaches like Ōmi-Maiko.
Around the lake are historic sites including the 17th-century Hikone castle and the 8th-century Buddhist temple complex Enryaku-ji. Lake Biwa Museum has cultural and natural history exhibits.

Downtown Apex is home to bustling antique shops and specialty stores, as well as restaurants like the award-winning Anna’s Pizzeria.
History buffs can tour historic Hughes and Salem Streets, part of a district recognized by the National Register of Historic Places that includes the circa-1914 Apex Union Depot, an iconic example of late Victorian architecture.
You can also enjoy small-town theater and artwork at the Halle Cultural Arts Center, with three galleries, two studio classrooms and a 150-seat theater. Further south, the North Carolina Railroad Museum offers rides on restored historic steam engines and self-guided tours where visitors can learn about historic railroad equipment.
