The Port of Kiel is one of the most versatile ports in the Baltic region. Its geographic location, permanent depth for seagoing vessels and the direct link to the national rail and road network make the port very attractive for cargo and passenger traffic alike. State-of-the-art terminal facilities and a high service quality enable an individual approach. Furthermore, Kiel profits from its location at the entrance to the world's most frequented artificial waterway, the Kiel Canal.
Kiel lies approximately 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Hamburg. Due to its geographic location in the north of Germany, the southeast of the Jutland peninsula and the southwestern shore of the Baltic Sea, Kiel has become one of the major maritime centres of Germany.
The city is known for a variety of international sailing events, including the annual Kiel Week, which is the biggest sailing event in the world. The Olympic sailing competitions of the 1936 and the 1972 Summer Olympics were held in Bay of Kiel.

How Frenchy’s Restaurants Got Started
Michael Preston AKA FrenchyMichael Preston was born in Quebec, a French-speaking province of Canada. His family moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan when he was in middle school. Michael grew up in a bilingual household, so when his new friends heard him speaking French with his mom, they started calling him “Frenchy”…and it stuck.
Shortly after high school, Frenchy and some friends took a vacation to Clearwater Beach, Florida. He loved it so much that he decided to stay and get a job at a local restaurant. Frenchy worked hard learning every job as he progressed from dishwasher to manager. After eight years in the industry, he was ready to make his dream a reality – opening his own restaurant.
Frenchy’s goal was simple: to have a friendly, laid-back place where people could come to enjoy a cold drink and fresh seafood. So in 1981, Frenchy’s Original Café, the quaint restaurant on a tiny side street, opened its doors to the beach community (see images below). The Café became an instant success, with lines of people stretching out the door on a daily basis. To ensure a constant source of fresh fish to the Café, Frenchy purchased a fleet of fishing boats and eventually opened Frenchy’s Seafood Company. With these resources in place, Frenchy’s became “famous” for its fresh Super Grouper sandwich, spawning the opening of four more restaurants: Frenchy’s Saltwater Café in 1989, Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill in 1991, Frenchy’s South Beach Cafe in 2003 and Frenchy’s Outpost Bar & Grill in 2013. Three decades running, the Frenchy’s restaurants are still regarded as a staple for delicious, fresh-from-the-Gulf seafood at reasonable prices in a fun and casual beach atmosphere.
In 2010, Frenchy continued building his mini empire on Clearwater Beach with the purchase of the former Olympia Motel, located on East Shore Drive. After months of extensive renovations, Frenchy’s Oasis Motel opened, boasting a 15 unit waterfront property, classically designed in retro 60’s, offering fantastic modern accommodations.

This live webcam overlooks a stretch of the Chūō Expressway near Moto-Hachiōjimachi, one of the key highway corridors linking Tokyo with the mountains of central Japan. From this view you can watch the steady flow of cars and trucks as they wind through the outskirts of Hachiōji, framed by greenery, overpasses, and the gently rising terrain that leads toward the Japanese Alps.
Traffic heading toward the top of the screen is bound for Yamanashi Prefecture, eventually reaching areas like Kōfu, Lake Kawaguchi, and the Mt. Fuji region. Vehicles travelling in the opposite direction are on their way back toward Tokyo, following one of the main commuter routes into the capital. Located in a house from 1787, it is one of the most unique eateries in town. The Coral City Camera is an underwater camera streaming live from an urban reef in Miami, Florida. It is located along the shoreline at the east end of PortMiami in about 10’ (3m) of water. It was deployed by Coral Morphologic as a hybrid art-science research project produced with Bridge Initiative and Bas Fisher Invitational and initially funded through grants awarded by a Knight Arts Challenge grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Coral City Camera provides a fish-eye view into the urban marine ecosystem that has developed around the human-made shorelines of Miami. The project was launched with the idea that the incredible biodiversity living just below the waterline in Miami should be a point of civic pride that engages the public to protect what they know and love. The riprap boulder shoreline along PortMiami demonstrates that human infrastructure can offer imperiled species with refuge and functional habitat in unexpected urban locations as well as serve as conveniently accessible research sites.
While the abundance of fish and marine life makes for a real-life aquarium screensaver you can enjoy all day, the Coral City Camera also serves as a valuable scientific tool to monitor the health and wellbeing of this underwater life in a non-invasive fashion. Coral Morphologic is working with ACCRETE from NOAA to sample and record the site’s water parameters while using the camera as a research tool to monitor a coral nursery that houses fragments of brain corals (Pseudodiploria strigosa) from urban habitats in order to investigate their resilience. We are also working with Rescue-a-Reef from the University of Miami to use the site to identify the hardiest genotypes of staghorn (Acropora cervicornis) and elkhorn (Acropora palmata) corals that have been propagated in their offshore nursery in Biscayne National Park.

The city of Friedrichshafen is located on the Baden-Wuerttemberg shore of Lake Constance, in the triangle bordering Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The city is not just a popular destination for tourists but is also well-known as the city of the Zeppelin. Aerospace, automotive and high tech corporations can be found in Friedrichshafen nowadays. Inventors such as Count Zeppelin, Claude Dornier, Theodor Kober, Karl Maybach and the Count of Soden-Fraunhofen still represent the literal spirit of discovery and the great curiosity about new things here in southern Germany even today. This also explains why the relatively small city of Friedrichshafen with its approximately 55,000 inhabitants regularly tops the rankings in many areas like sport, education, research, technology, and economy.

A marina in a natural environment, near the city and equipped with luxurious facilities: That is Roermond City Marina. A marina with international appeal, where optimal enjoyment and privacy are paramount and where you are assured of a carefree stay.
High-quality amenities
Roermond City Marina offers you more than a 'normal' marina. Luxury, service and privacy are central to this location on the Maas. Here you can enjoy your days off without having to worry about the interpretation of preconditions. Take the ankle boxes that you can rent; berths that are solely intended for your yacht. Or think of help with the construction of your boat. And of course Roermond City Marina is equipped with the best facilities, for example when it comes to sanitary and electricity.
Roermond City Marina is located in the small town of Herten, only a few kilometers from the city center of Roermond. A trip to this cozy and historic city, with extensive shopping options such as the Designer Outlet and the Retail Park, is thus made. But other shops, such as in the village center of Herten, are a stone's throw from the marina and can easily be reached on foot or by bike. In short: Roermond City Marina is fully equipped and is therefore the ideal destination to enjoy on or on the water.
