Lake Jasna, Slovenia

Located just 2 km from Kranjska Gora, Lake Jasna is a stunning alpine lake covering a surface area of 2.2 ha. A popular tourist destination, the views from here towards to surrounding mountains are nothing short of breathtaking. The lake is guarded by a statue of a Zlatorog (golden horn), the legendary chamois of Mt. Triglav.

In 2015, Lake Jasna underwent a facelift that has slightly transformed its overall appearance and tremendously boosted its popularity, with the addition of new visistor friendly features, that have received an informal approval by tourists and locals alike, in the form of increased visitor numbers.

The new features are new beach areas and better access for swimmers / sunbathers, newly opened bar / ice cream parlour and finally a new three-tiered wooden diving platform, resembling a castle turret.

Lake Jasna now offers not just a place for a walk to admire the views but somewhere lovely to while away whole Summer days on the beach, swimming and sunbathing - adding an important new dimension to Kranjska Gora’s Summer offering for tourists.

Dobrinj, Krk Island, Croatia

The village and municipality of Dobrinj is located on the eastern part of the island of Krk, Croatia. Dobrinj is located on a 200 metre-high hill overlooking the beautiful Soline Bay.

The first written record of Dobrinj and the history of Dobrinjsko dates back to 1100. For centuries this was an extremely agricultural area. The people were occupied in cattle breeding and olive cultivation as well as in managing the wealth of the forest. Today, the village is famous for its picturesque traditional costumes, its folklore events, the sopele school (Krk’s wind instrument) and the traditional home-made cuisine. In the island’s centre, rocky houses and narrow rocky streets that breathe days gone by prevail.

Close to Dobrinj is the Biserujka cave which astonishes with its beauty and curiosity of its sediment shapes. It is the only cave on the island, among more than 50, that is organised for the reception of visitors. According to legend, the Biserjuka cave (biser-jewel) received its name from the treasure that was found in it, which belonged to the local pirates.

A small stream called Rio Guayabo runs past the feeders in the background, and the lush landscaping of the Canopy Lodge grounds grade into the forested slopes around them. The feeding table is around 40 feet from the main lodge, and is one of several feeders provisioned throughout the day so that guests to the lodge are greeted to spectacular views of many of the common birds found in this ecosystem.

About the Canopy Lodge
The Canopy Lodge is a full service lodge specializing in nature tourism with a focus on birds. It is about 60 miles west of Panama City in the picturesque village of El Valle de Antón, right in the center of the gigantic crater of an extinct volcano. This is the largest inhabited crater in the Western Hemisphere and second only to the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. It is surrounded by the Cerro Gaital Natural Monument.

Canopy Lodge is one of a series of three ecotourism ventures developed by the Canopy Family. The first, Canopy Tower, involved transforming a former U.S. radar station overlooking the Panama Canal in Soberanía National Park into a unique birding lodge embedded in the canopy of the surrounding forest. Their newest property, Canopy Camp, offers a taste of some of the wildest lowland rainforest in Panama in the Darién region.

White Stork Nest, Knepp, United Kingdom

Located at Knepp Castle in West Sussex, United Kingdom, this camera allows you to see a close-up view of the beautiful storks nest.  The camera was installed by Wildlife Windows, with the help of several White Stork Project volunteers.

White storks live in colonies for safety in numbers and their failure to breed in the UK over the last few centuries is thought to be largely because there has been no nesting colony to provide security for visiting migrants. Inspired by stork reintroduction programmes in Alsace, Sweden and elsewhere in Europe, the White Stork Project was born in 2016. The idea to bring back white storks to Britain originated with reintroduction experts Roy Dennis and Derek Gow.  You can find out more about this amazing project on their website.

If you would like to support the project then donations are welcomed via the Knepp Wildland Foundation - The Knepp Wildland Foundation was founded to galvanise nature recovery across Sussex and beyond. We use evidence, knowledge and inspiration from the pioneering work of Knepp to support rewilding at scale, with a particular focus on communities, corridors and the next generation of rewilders.

Red-tailed Hawk Nest, Cornell University, New York, USA

A Red-tailed Hawk pair has been nesting above Cornell University’s athletic fields since at least the 2012, making use of two different light towers for their nest sites. In 2012 and 2015, they used a tower near Fernow Hall, and in 2013, 2014, and 2016, they used the tower nearest Weill Hall. We installed cameras at both of these sites to get a better look at the intimate behavior of these well-known birds as they raise their young amid the bustle of a busy campus.

Red-tailed hawks are monogamous and may mate for life. They make stick nests high above the ground, in which the female lays one to five eggs each year. Both sexes incubate the eggs for four to five weeks, and feed the young from the time they hatch until they leave the nest about six weeks later.

Red-tailed Hawks, especially in the West, have highly variable plumage, including dark and rufous phases. They have long, broad wings and short, wide tails. Most have light breasts and dark streaks forming a mottled 'belly-band.' Most have dark brown heads. The underwings are mottled dark and light. All plumages of Red-tailed Hawks have a darkish band on the leading edges of the inner underwings, known as the 'patagial' markings. The upper side of the tail of most adult birds is deep rufous, although the Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk, a subspecies occasionally seen in Washington, has a light gray or banded tail. Light birds often have a faint white 'V' on their back-feathers that can be seen when they are perched. Juveniles lack the red tail.

Nagasaki Airport, Japan

The mainland portion of the airport opened as a military aerodrome in 1923, and commenced civilian joint use as Omura Airport (大村空港) in 1955.

The current island runway and terminal opened on May 1, 1975. Although Nagasaki is superficially similar to Japan's other island airports, Kansai International Airport, Kobe Airport, Kitakyushu Airport, and Chūbu Centrair International Airport, Nagasaki's island existed (in a radically different shape) before the airport was constructed. Constructing the airport required flattening the island's hills and forming landfill around its shore, expanding it from 0.9 to 1.54 km2 (0.35 to 0.59 sq mi).

Kristiansund, Norway

Have you ever been to a city centre in the middle of the sea?

The city of Kristiansund is situated on four different islands. But don’t worry – in minutes, the tiny ferry Sundbåten will take you between Kirkelandet, Innlandet, Nordlandet and Gomalandet. Ask the skipper to let you off at the Milnbrygga wharf, where you can visit the Norwegian Clipfish Museum. Kristiansund was partly built on fishing, and especially the clipfish – split and salted cod that were traditionally dried on the cliffs along the sea.

Clipfish and bacalao are still staple foods in the region. Get a taste of some of the freshest seafood at Smia Fiskerestaurant. Located in a house from 1787, it is one of the most unique eateries in town. Speaking of food from the region – you need to try the award-winning cheeses from Tingvollost, especially “Kraftkar”, which has been named the world’s best cheese!

Join the annual food festival Snadderfestivalen in June to really dig into the local food, drink the local craft beers, and taste the local aquavit, which is made on potatoes and seaweed.

Did you know that Kristiansund is home to the country’s oldest opera? With more than 100 performances a year, you can always catch a show. Every year in February, they arrange the popular festival Operafestukene, where you get served opera for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 17 days.

You should also join the Nordic Light Festival of Photography, where famous international and Norwegian photographers exhibit their pictures all over town, give lectures, and drink with the locals all through the night.

Castro Street is the seven blocks between Alma Street and El Camino. It is the most happening place in Mountain View. The commercial rents are not as expensive as other city areas which gives Castro Street a diverse mixture of interesting shops and venues.

This is a good area to hang out on a weekend to walk around & people watch, drink coffee, and browse some bookstores. There are plenty of restaurants, most of which have outdoor seating on the street.  San Francisco's gay village is mostly concentrated in the business district that is located on Castro Street from Market Street to 19th Street. It extends down Market Street toward Church Street and on both sides of the Castro neighborhood from Church Street to Eureka Street.

Castro Street was named after José Castro (1808–1860), a Californian leader of Mexican opposition to U.S. rule in California in the 19th century, and alcalde of Alta California from 1835 to 1836.

ScenicView Campground, West Winfield, New York, USA

Scenic View Campground was established in 2017. Development of the grounds began in the fall of 2014 when the 3.5 acre pond was developed.

After the completion of the pond, construction of the Bar & Grill began, and in May of 2017, Scenic View Campground Bar & Grill was opened. Opening night set a high bar for what was to come!

Since opening night, the Bar & Grill has become the go-to gathering place in the area. Not only is it a bar and grill, but we also do catering, event rentals, live entertainment, and we’re open to snowmobiles throughout the winter. We’re growing fast, and always making changes along the way to improve our customers’ experience. Don’t let the word “bar” fool you; our typical Friday night is the perfect atmosphere for families to enjoy a meal together.

While the Bar & Grill was growing rapidly throughout 2017, the Campground wasn’t far behind. While mostly under construction throughout the 2017 season, the Campground’s Grand Opening was in May of 2018, and grand it was! With the beautiful grounds nearly full, there was much fun all around.

Although we are fully open, we are always looking to improve on what we currently have. Among those areas to be completed or updated are the beach and swimming area, docks for the paddle boats, and an all-new event pavilion for graduations, reunions, birthdays, weddings, and much more! As we’re still in the building stages (2018), don’t be surprised if you come back each year to see something new and improved!

At night, the skyline glows with modern high-rises and office towers, giving a classic Tokyo nightscape. The tall structure with the blue light at its tip is Tokyo Tower, a famous landmark visible from many points across the city. Just beyond lies the port area, where boats and ferries move through the bay. This area is popular with visitors for its city lights, waterfront walks, and access to attractions like the futuristic architecture of Shiodome, scenic views from Hamarikyu Gardens, and the Rainbow Bridge illuminated at night.

Kuricchaan Private Library, Oita, Japan

A live view of Oita Funai Castle Street in Oita, Japan. This camera is located at the Kuricchaan Private Library.

In a general library, scribbling on books or making notes is not allowed. The current situation is that such books are treated as worthless in any used bookstore. However, I believe that the true value of a book is born only when there are readers. Have you ever read a book and wanted to underline your favorite phrases or write down your thoughts?

Therefore, I thought that it would be interesting to have a "library where you can freely write notes on books", which led to the opening of the library. Of course, please refrain from posting notes that are offensive to public order and morals, but I would like to provide a place where you can feel the warmth of people and the thoughts of strangers through second-hand books, leaving evidence that people have picked them up.

There are already interesting notes and poems written on it, and you can immerse yourself in the thoughts of what kind of person the previous owner was. Please feel free to visit us. Even if you don't read books, please feel free to stop by when you feel a little tired from walking around the city, after work, or while waiting for the bus or train.

OUR SNOW IS ANYTHING BUT “AVERAGE!” –  A standard in the ski and snowboard industry is to list the amount of snowfall received during a winter season as “average annual snowfall.” Well, ours is anything but average. With Grand Targhee’s abundant snowfall, 500 inches plus (that’s over 43 feet) each season, it’s no wonder that year after year national ski magazines rate Grand Targhee in the top three resorts in North America for snow quality and quantity. Not only do we get more natural snow that most resorts, our snow is drier (less than 5% water content) and thus lighter.

IT’S GUARANTEED – We are so confident that you’ll be satisfied with our snow conditions at Grand Targhee Resort, we guarantee it. If for some reason you’re not, simply return your lift ticket to the Activity Center with 2 or less lift scans/ski runs and you will receive a “Snow Check” good for another lift ticket on any day during the current season. *Some restrictions apply.

IT’S NEVER BEEN EASIER TO SKI POWDER – as more and more people discover the pure joy of powder skiing while riding on new snowboards and powder skis designed for deep snow, powder reserves are becoming more popular and we certainly have our share of those. Another plus – Grand Targhee Resort still boasts one of the lowest ratios of skiers to off-trail powder acres in the country. If there’s not enough of the fluffy stuff for you on Fred’s Mountain, schedule a Snowcat Adventure trip to Peaked Mountain. Our snowcats pamper you with 602 acres and 2,400 vertical feet of unsurpassed scenery and snow conditions.

Lanzarote Intl. Airport, Canary Islands, Spain

César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, commonly known as Lanzarote Airport and also known as Arrecife Airport, is the airport serving the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. The airport is located in San Bartolomé, Las Palmas, 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) southwest of the island's capital, Arrecife.

It handles flights to many European airports, with hundreds of thousands of tourists each year, as well as internal flights to other Spanish airports. It handled 7,327,019 passengers in 2018. Even being a small airport, it has many of the facilities of a large airport and is well connected with the capital of the island by a couple of means of transportation: bus and taxi.

Lanzarote is the most northern and eastern Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean, its capital is Arrecife, and has six other municipalities. With approximately 140,000 inhabitants is the third most populated island of the Canary Islands. At the center of the island there is the Timanfaya Natural Park. It is known as "island volcanoes" because much of its surface is covered with remains of eruptions that took place during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

Lanzarote is an ideal island to enjoy all year round due to its subtropical climate and its lack of rainfall, being practically zero between May and October. The temperatures do not suffer large oscillations nor during the day nor during the year, rarely exceed 29 degrees in summer, or fall below 14 degrees in winter. Lanzarote is ideal for the enjoyment of its landscapes and nature, these being peculiar to most European tourists visiting the islands.

Port, Saint-Malo, France

Saint-Malo is a historic walled port city and commune, in Brittany on the English Channel coastline of northwestern France. It is a subprefecture of the Ille-et-Vilaine.

Traditionally known for its independent streak, Saint-Malo was in the past notorious for privateering (the "cité corsaire"). Today the city is a major tourist destination, with many ancient structures.
